PODCAST NEWS✨ I am absolutely thrilled to announ PODCAST NEWS✨ I am absolutely thrilled to announce my brand new podcast: All The Small Things - @ATSTpodcast. ⁣
⁣
As someone who is forever day-dreaming about the “things I have to look forward to”, or finding myself awake in the middle of the night agonising over “that thing I said 3 years ago”, I am constantly trying (and continuously failing) to pay closer attention to the present moment. ⁣
⁣
This may be why I have developed a particular fascination with routines and habits. Sometimes I have a cracking routine with zero productivity, other times I have no structure, but feel my most creative. This podcast is born out of that confusion! Whether we're a ‘one task ticked off at a time’ type or we thrive with thirty-five tabs open, I want to learn more about the rituals that help provide structure when we need it most - or perhaps if creativity lies in the chaos if it all. ⁣
⁣
In this series, I’ll be speaking to inspiring people and thought leaders about the small things that keep them in-check and uncover more about what makes their minds tick. What’s more, we’ll hear about the seemingly small moments that perhaps felt insignificant at the time, but their impact turned out to be life-changing.⁣
⁣
This series is a departure from Talking Tastebuds, which feels bittersweet! I loved creating those six series SO much, but in my heart felt that it was time for a change and a less limiting subject matter. The warm and uplifting vibes remain, so I really hope the original fans will stay with me - it would be an honour to have you along for the ride!⁣
⁣
What’s more, I have some guests that make me go OOOOOOH lined up for this inaugural season. As in, DO A LITTLE DANCE AND ACCIDENTALLY TRIP AND FALL OVER kind of guests and I am sooooo excited for you to hear the conversations!⁣
⁣
The first episode is out TOMORROW and from there you can expect brand new episodes every Tuesday, for the next 9 weeks. Head to my stories/bio to subscribe and hear a teaser! ⁣

Fashion, shopping + mental health 〰️ When I’ Fashion, shopping + mental health 〰️ When I’m feeling anxious or low, I occasionally find myself scouring clothing websites (and not the second hand ones), adding things to ‘my wishlist’ and day-dreaming about how I could magically transform into the model who’s wearing the clothes if I were to buy them. As someone who basically had a degree in scrolling through ASOS in my early twenties, I’ve found that old habits die hard, especially when I’m having a low self esteem moment. ⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
Here are some things that I know which have helped me leave items firmly in the Wishlist and out of the basket:⁣⁣⁣
•new clothes won’t turn you into a different person⁣⁣⁣
•you’re already enough⁣⁣⁣
•you probably have some great clothes that you already own that will make you feel magic⁣⁣⁣
•if you find something you like, you can probably find something very similar on a second hand website (that no one else will have)⁣⁣⁣ - they have wishlists and ‘saved items’ options too!
•if you’re really not feeling great, try closing a few of those tabs - or maybe even your entire laptop for a little while. ⁣
⁣⁣
I’m aware that some of you might be brand new to sustainable fashion, so in a bid to offer up some encouragement (and counteract the ‘shop’ tab on this app which I simply pretend does not exist), I would LOVE to hear some responses to the following statement: “My favourite thing about slow fashion is…” ⁣⁣⁣
Leave your comments below, I’m especially interested to hear any links you might make that tie in with your mental health…?⁣⁣⁣

But what if your friends don’t care about sustai But what if your friends don’t care about sustainability? ♻️ “How can I get my friends to care about slow fashion?” is one of my most frequently asked questions. ⁣⁣
⁣
When we care deeply about something and we live in a passionate, kind and joyful way that aligns with that thing we care deeply about, that’s infectious. People ask questions and want to know more when they notice we’re fuelled and filled by our passion. ⁣
⁣
I think the majority of us would be hard pushed to find a circle of friends who share the exact same passions and beliefs as we do. Perhaps what’s more important is to find friends who support you and your passions. Friends who will cheer you on. ⁣
⁣
We’re all interconnected and so are the majority of the issues people care deeply about. Try to find the common ground between your passions and ways to learn from each other. ⁣
⁣⁣
With all that said, if you’re after fellow fair fashion folks to connect with and *post-lockdown* host swap shops with, go thrifting with, campaign with, maybe even start a business with? Please see this comments section as a way to put yourself out there. I’ve been lucky enough to meet some of the most important people in my life through social media, and I’d love the same outcome for you! Comments are open... ♥️⁣

Yesterday, I asked you about the things you find m Yesterday, I asked you about the things you find most confusing when it comes to fair fashion. “How to know when a brand is truly sustainable, or if it’s just greenwashing” came up a lot, which isn’t surprising when every fashion brand has cottoned onto the fact that eco marketing might make them more money 🙃 ⁣
⁣
If you’re new to this topic, it can feel daunting - but try not to feel overwhelmed, and pretty dua lipa please do not feel guilty. We all have fast fashion in our wardrobes and we’re all recovering hypocrites - that doesn’t mean you can’t be part of this movement!⁣
⁣
In this carousel, I’ve compiled some questions to ask brands and useful resources. I’ll add this all to my “greenwashing” highlight as there’s lots of info in there too. ⁣
⁣
Here are are some important things to bare in mind:⁣
1. The sustainable fashion⁣ fashion movement does not start and end with buying more clothes
2. The most sustainable clothes are the ones you already own⁣
3. Conscious consumption looks different to different folks. I’m not here to judge individuals, but rather encourage more consideration around what and who we are supporting and greater awareness about how we can support workers and their unions.⁣
⁣
This is a huge and complex topic that requires nuance. Fore more, I’d really recommend listening to the @RememberWhoMadeThem podcast where we unpack these issues with experts, garment workers, organisers and unions. This is an entirely free resource.⁣
⁣
Please also follow the work of @labourbehindthelabel @cleanclothescampaign and @remakeourworld as there are lots of digital activations happening this month - and we need everyone on board!! ♥️💌
TV and film have played a huge part in my life. I TV and film have played a huge part in my life. I used to be a TV producer and before that I studied film theory at university. I love how they can completely transport me to a different place, time and feeling, getting me out of my own head and allowing me to escape reality for a moment. This escapism has never felt more important and every time I find a good series, I take a moment for the production teams who have made such spectacular content to entertain and distract us. I’m certain the past year would have felt very different without my evening ritual of settling down with some great telly.⁣
⁣
When @SkyTV asked me to share what ‘unmissable’ TV and film looks like to me, it was an easy one to answer. I love shows, films and docs where I can understand someone else’s experience and learn about other realities. I also need a strong female lead and some badass styling: ‘I Hate Suzie’ and ‘The Undoing’ were two of my 2020 Sky favourites.⁣
⁣
I love unpacking the nuances of a series and unravelling the complexities of its characters and relish the moment when a friend and I discover we’re obsessing over the same show and excitedly relay our favourite moments to each other.
⁣
I’m excited to share that this year, I’m a #SkyQVIP and was given a sneak peek of all the awesome shows and Sky Cinema Originals coming out of Sky in 2021. The show that caught my eye was ‘Mare Of Easttown’ on Sky Atlantic which stars and was produced by Kate Winslet. It follows the story of a small town Pennsylvania detective who investigates a local murder as her life crumbles around her and it looks COMPELLING.⁣
⁣
What are you watching and finding ‘unmissable’ at the moment? I’d love to read your recommendations! ⁣

It’s always interesting entering a new year and It’s always interesting entering a new year and seeing what word a fast fashion brand will latch onto in a bid to sell us SuStAiNaBlE clothes, without being able to provide information about who made them. ⁣
⁣⁣
This week’s word of the week? “Holistic”. Coming to us live and direct from the purveyors of ‘conscious collections’, @HM. Crikey. ⁣
⁣⁣
What’s “holistic” about a brand whose average garment worker wage is less than $22 per month, but whose CEO is worth $17.6 billion?⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Without ethics, we don’t have sustainability and we certainly don’t have “holistic”. ⁣
⁣
♻️ #OOOTD (old outfit of the day): jumper and shirt: 7 years old, black puffa: borrowed from my housemate, kicks: bought second hand a while ago from @vestiaireco, socks: @thoughtclothing (new!) jeans: vintage - that doesn’t make them holistic though🙃
